This time last year, METUPUK volunteer, Tassia Haines was
posting this video about a day in the life of Trodelvy. Tass
died in March and this is our first campaign without her. She
always took part in campaigns; writing content, drawing,
producing video content, a combination of everything and
anything in order to help patients with a MBC diagnosis.
https://buff.ly/3yo6X7M Tass was able to access Trodelvy because
of another METUPUK volunteer, Dr Philippa Hetherington, who died
in November 2022. She started the #TrodelvyNow campaign to get
Gilead, the manufacturer of Trodelvy, to introduce a named basis
pre-reimbursement scheme so that patients could start on the
drug before NICE/SMC approval was completed. Tass was so
grateful to Philippa because her selflessness, while paralysed
in bed, campaigning for the drug meant that women like Tass were
able to access Trodelvy and get more time. Why are we telling
you this? Because both of these women achieved so much that
benefitted thousands, all voluntarily, all unpaid, and all
whilst living with MBC, while those whose job it is to do this
work turn a blind eye. They've paid the ultimate price as
